Ronda Rousey is set to write the script of a new movie based on her books which will be available on Netflix.

Ronda is working with Netflix

According to Deadline, Netflix has finalized an agreement with Ronda Rousey to distribute a film based on her two autobiographical works, “My Fight / Your Fight” and “Our Fight.” The movie is set to be produced by Chernin Entertainment but Netflix chose not to provide a statement for now.

Initially, the rights to Ronda’s first book “My Fight/Your Fight” in 2015 were under the ownership of Paramount. However, the latest reports suggest that Netflix has now taken control of the project. It was also mentioned that Netflix executive Michelle Evans, a devoted Rousey fan, has granted the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion the autonomy to collaborate on the screenplay, along with her sister Maria Burns Ortiz.

An early backlash

Rousey’s movie is still in its infancy stage but as early as now, “Rowdy” is already being criticized by some from the MMA media. Former Bellator color commentator Jimmy Smith was among the ones who shamelessly blasted Rousey over the revelation she made about suffering from concussions throughout her UFC career and the media turning on her after she lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193.

Rousey last competed in MMA in 2016 at UFC 207 where she lost to via first-round TKO to Amanda Nunes. Short after that, she made a move to professional wrestling and rose to prominence as a WWE star. Rousey has a pro MMA record of 12-2.
