RIZIN fans were treated to a spectacular last-minute submission by Atomweight World Grand Prix semifinalist Seika Izawa.
In the co-main event of RIZIN 38, Izawa faced Anastasiya Svetkivska in the semifinal of the World Grand Prix tournament. The two women appeared to be evenly matched in the opening round, but as the second round progressed, Izawa began to take over. With mere seconds on the clock, Izawa who was threatening a triangle choke quickly switched to an arm bar. With the hold locked in, Svetkivska has no choice, but to tap.

Seika Izawa Remains Undefeated With Slick Arm Bar Submission at RIZIN 38
Seika Izawa’s submission at RIZIN 38 not only moves her to the World Grand Prix finals but also keeps her undefeated streak intact, now sitting at 8-0. Per Tapology, Izawa is listed as the No. 9 ranked atomweight in the world. She had previously scored two other victories in 2022, defeating Laura Fontoura and Ayaka Hamasaki.
On the flip side, the loss drops Anastasiya Svetkivska to 2-2 in her career. The Ukrainian has earned victories in her first two career bouts but has now lost back-to-back fights under the RIZIN banner.
In the RIZIN 38 main event, former Bellator MMA bantamweight champion Kyoji Horiguchi defeated Yuto Hokamura via submission in the second round by way of arm triangle. It was Horiguchi’s first win since 2020 after losing his last two bouts in Bellator against current bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis and Patchy Mix in April.
