Alexander Gustafsson Vs. Yoel Romero Title Fight Targeted For UFC 230
UFC 230 Pay-Per-View event is coming up soon and as of yet still without a main event, but promotion is in works to book a light heavyweight fight between Yoel Romero and Alexander Gustafsson according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.
As per reports, a title would be on the line, but it’s unclear whether the fight will be interim or undisputed, it solely depends on Daniel Cormier’s next move.

Whatever the case, it seems Romero vs. Gustafsson will headline the card over a current co-main lightweight bout between Dustin Poirier vs. Nate Diaz lightweight which is a nontitle fight.
Well, maybe the winner likely to go on to face when former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones return.
After a former title challenger Yoel Romero suffered a second defeat in a 185-pound title fight against champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 225, a few weeks later reports surfaced “Soldier of God” moving up to the Light Heavyweight division.
Last month out of nowhere UFC announced a middleweight showdown between Romero and Paulo Costa at UFC 230, but Cuban said he couldn’t compete as he needs 4-5 months to heal the orbital injury and already teased to move up at 205-pound. It seems circumstances have changed.
Gustafsson, who hasn’t fought since his impressive 2017 knockout win over Glover Teixeira. Its been over a year now “The Mauler” got an itch to return to action and has been calling a rematch with Jon Jones for some time now, stating its the only fight that makes sense right now.
Daniel Cormier is expected to defend his heavyweight title against Brock Lesnar sometime earlier next year, but Cormier also teased to defend his 205-pound strap before his super fight with Lesnar. Currently, it’s unknown what the status of ‘DC’s’ next move.
Nothing is official as of yet.
