18-year-old prospect Raul Rosas Jr. made his third walk to the Octagon on Saturday night as the promotion presented Noche UFC live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Rosas Jr. entered the UFC last year with a ton of hype after scoring an impressive unanimous decision victory over Mando Gutierrez at the age of 17. Making his promotional debut three months later, ‘El Niño Problema’ earned a first-round submission against Jay Perrin. Looking like he could become the next big thing in the UFC, Rosas Jr. fell short in his sophomore appearance, being outworked by Christian Rodriguez at UFC 287 in April.
Determined to get back into the win column, Raul Rosas Jr. returned for a scrap with 14-3 fighter Terrence Mitchell.
Round 1
Mitchell comes out immediately looking to put pressure on Rosas Jr, throwing an early head kick. Rosas Jr. briefly locks up and Mitchell lands a solid right on the break. Rosas Jr. responds with a massive left hand that drops Mitchell. Rosas Jr. jumps on Mitchell and begins dropping bombs, forcing Mitchell to give up his back. Rosas Jr. continues to lay on the ground and pound forcing referee Mark Smith to step in and call for the stoppage.
Official Result: Raul Rosas Jr. def. Terrence Mitchell via TKO (strikes) at 0:54 of Round 1
