Alex Pereira‘s latest math equation has garnered a lot of attention.

Pereira Raised Some Eyebrows With Instagram Story

Earlier this month, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion would leave the MMA community with more questions than answers when he posted ’30+300=3′ on his Instagram story.

You don’t have to be a mathematician to know that 30 + 300 isn’t equal to 3, so many fans theorized there was a deeper meaning to Pereira’s unusual post. Theories flew around left and right, with one being that Pereira was hinting at a move to heavyweight at the historic UFC 300 card in April.

Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall has since fueled these rumors by posting about a potential fight with Alex Pereira himself.

Figuring It Out

With everything already blown out of proportion, Pereira admits his cryptic equation was actually the result of a dream he had and not about some super-fight in a new division.

“I had a dream with the 30 + 300 is equal to 3 and I got confused on all of those numbers,” Pereira told The Mac Life via a translator. “I tossed it over there [on Instagram] to see if people can help him figure out the equation. Like the other day, I had a dream about some numbers, I played a raffle in Brazil, won a motorcycle. Then 2 months later, this is actually real. I had another [dream] and put some more numbers, won another motorcycle.

“This is for the fans to help me out to figure it out. I had 30 + 300 = 3. We all tried to figure it out, too.”

‘Everybody’s Imagination’

When asked about Aspinall, Pereira says that fight is on ‘everybody’s imagination’.

“Well, that’s everybody’s imagination,” Pereira said, regarding a fight with Aspinall. “We’re gonna all get together and start figuring out where the numbers makes sense.”

Pereira ‘Focused’ On LIGHT Heavyweight, Not Heavyweight

While he won’t rule out a move to heavyweight in the future, ‘Poatan’ is content with defending his title in the light heavyweight division for the time being.

“I fought at middleweight, and then I he had to listen my body to go up for fighting at light heavyweight. But, I’m a fighter. I’ll fight anybody, anywhere. But this is not a thing that, like I had the height and basically, size of a heavyweight, but this is the thing that’s gotta be programmed, put some work on.

“It’s not some day, just jump in on adventure like that. I want to make the things on the right way. I can definitely find at heavyweight, maybe something for the future, but, it’s gotta be something that’s well planned. Right now, I’m focused on this light heavyweight reign.”
