When and why did National Geographic change it’s name to ‘Nat Geo’? Are seven syllables too much for our burgeoning youth now? If you are going to learn about nature and look at cuddly pictures of baby animals that will grow up to eat you, you need it under the safe canopy of a hip sounding name. ‘Hey wanna go watch Nat Geo?’ the youth says to his stinky little friend ‘I don’t know what that is but it sounds pleasing to my ears and I’m happy that it’s not polysyllabic, lets go’ the child would reply. Then they would go watch this.
At least the entire National Geographic title is left intact for this brief profile on the deadly Brazilian Spider that has been wandering around the world the last ten years.
