It’s rare that a MMA event can feel like an out of body, religious experience. Nate Diaz and UFC 196 was that kind of night for the MMA community.
UFC 196 is one of those nights where you remember where you were when it all went down. Today (Mar. 5) marks the three anniversary of Nate Diaz choking out Conor McGregor in the center of the cage.
Yeah, it really has been 36 months since UFC 196 went down and changed the course of MMA history.
If ever an event need the ESPN 30 for 30 treatment, it’s UFC 196. There is probably some larger, deeper meaning to the build-up and fallout to that fateful March Saturday night.
At it’s core, UFC 196 can be told in simple snap shots of MMA history.

Nate vs. Conor was the perfect storm and to top it all off it had the perfect ending. March 5th needs to be one of MMA’s national holidays.
