Nate Diaz empathized with Conor McGregor amid the backlash of his decision to pull out from UFC 303.

Nate backs Conor

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Diaz expressed his real thoughts on McGregor’s UFC 303 withdrawal. As shocking as it may seem, Diaz isn’t one of those people criticizing “Notorious.”

The way Diaz saw it, McGregor made the right call in pushing back his UFC return if he knows he wasn’t gonna be at his best come fight night.

“I think it was just a minor thing,” Diaz said of McGregor’s situation. “I think they made a bigger deal out of it than it is. Good idea. If I get f*cked up, I would like to push the fight back too, but people f**king freak out. I think I wouldn’t want to fight until I’m 100 percent ready to rock too, because in the past I’ve done all kinds of sh*t I shouldn’t have done.”

“I think he learned from experience and all these inexperienced people out there talking sh*t, just speaking for their inexperience,” he added. “They’re going to have to deal with the criticism until the fight gets done, but I think it’ll happen and it’ll all be good.”

A trilogy will always be a possibility

Diaz drew first blood in his epic rivalry with McGregor at UFC 196 by securing a submission win. McGregor evened it out in the rematch by scoring a majority decision victory.

It has been years since they last met inside the cage but Diaz is still not ruling out a third match with “Notorious.” As per Diaz, he just couldn’t tell how and when but it is certainly still a possibility.

“We’ll see what happens with time, you know?” Diaz said of his possible trilogy match with McGregor. “It depends on what happens with my fight, his fight, UFC. I ain’t a fortune teller, you know what I’m saying? We’ll see what happens.”

Diaz is set to face Jorge Masvidal in a boxing match on July 6 at The Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. On the other hand, McGregor has vowed to be 100% healthy in his return and is hoping to be booked for a fight as early as September.
