A welterweight headliner between Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad is taking place now (Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022) at UFC Vegas 51.
Round 1
Luque applies pressure early on. He throws a body kick. He follows it up with a leg kick. Muhammad threatens with a takedown but continues to be backed up against the fence. Luque continues to attack the leg. Muhammad throws a right. Luque throws another body kick. Muhammad throws a solid body kick of his own. Muhammad follows it up with another after seeing his strikes blocked. Muhammad lands another as Luque continues to march forward. Luque connects with a leg kick. However, he eats another body kick. Muhammad times a blast double and gets Luque down. Muhammad has control for a bit and takes Luque’s back as Luque gets to his feet. Luque escapes and clinches Muhammad against the fence. Muhammad has the underhooks but Luque manages to separate. Luque blocks a head kick.
Round 2
Luque continues to put the pressure on. He lands a few jabs. Muhammad responds with a straight left. Luque is more aggressive and lands a couple of big leg kicks. Muhammad lands a one two. Muhammad is landing a lot more now. Luque connects with more leg kicks while eating strikes. Luque with a body kick. Muhammad misses a big overhand right. Luque connects with another leg kick but gets taken down by Muhammad again. Muhammad transitions to the back. Luque scrambles and the fight returns to the feet. Muhammad lands a body kick to the end the round.
Round 3
More of the same as Luque advances forward. He lands a leg kick. He hurts Muhammad with a left hook that wobbles him slightly! Muhammad clinches him up but Luque is able to separate. Luque connects with another left hook! Muhammad lands an elbow. Muhammad shoots but Luque defends the takedown. However, Muhammad has him clinched up against the fence. Luque defends another attempt and they separate. Luque is going for the kill now but Muhammad is doing well to survive. Muhammad times a takedown well and gets Luque down with just over two minutes remaining. Luque scrambles and eventually gets out. Muhammad goes for a spinning elbow but Luque shrugs it off. Both fighters engage in the pocket. Luque lands a left cross. Luque blocks a head kick and attempts a flying knee to end the round. Clear Luque round.
Round 4
Luque partially lands a head kick. Luque connects with a big leg kick soon after. Muhammad takes Luque down. Luque eventually scrambles and gets Muhammad off him. Luque lands a big left. Luque is now stalking him as he’s done for most of the fight. Muhammad is throwing back with a body kick and some one twos. Muhammad misses a spinning backfist. Luque lands with a right but eats a shot from Muhammad right after.
Round 5
Luque lands a left but eats a big right from Muhammad on the counter. Muhammad shoots but Luque does well to defend. Muhammad lands an elbow on the break. Muhammad eats a body kick. Luque lands a leg kick. Muhammad connects with a right and shoots. Luque defends. Luque lands a leg kick. Muhammad shoots again but Luque grabs a hold of his neck. Muhammad gets out of it and lands a strike on the break. He shoots again soon after and gets Luque down. Muhammad has control of Luque’s back and will look to maintain this position for the rest of the fight. Muhammad threatens with a choke. Luque gets out and his back to his feet but has to defend another takedown attempt. They separate with just over 45 seconds remaining. Muhammad lands a one two. Luque attacks the leg. Muhammad lands a combo and ends the fight strong.
Official Result: Belal Muhammad defeats Vicente Luque via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47).
