I used to balance two jobs when I was a teenager saving up for my first Volkswagen. In retrospect, valet parking cars and unloading trucks for Costco made up the most fulfilling summers of my life; bringing home more singles than a stripper didn’t hurt either. Back then, premium gasoline cost around $1.19 per gallon and people could afford to drive. These days, I still fuel up for around $5.00 at a time, but my moped isn’t nearly as cool as the Volkswagen was. In fact, no matter how hard I work, I’ll probably never be as cool as Mike Russow is. The dude is undefeated with four straight wins in the UFC heavyweight division, and he maintains his winning streak while keeping a full-time job as a Chicago police officer. After training and before work, he also spends time helping his daughter with her homework, and if there’s any time left after all that stuff, he contemplates other ways he could make the rest of us feel like underachievers.
Mike Russow faces Fabricio Werdum at UFC 147. If you ask him nicely enough, he’ll probably find a way to do it while juggling bowling balls and riding a unicycle.
