Ever since his arrival in the octagon two years ago, Michael Chandler has brought an electrifying presence to the sport. Recently, he was given a golden opportunity to go head-to-head with Conor McGregor later this year. However, the status of the highly anticipated fight remains uncertain, and now a former UFC champion has thrown a challenge to Chandler.

Conor McGregor had given his word to fans that he would make a comeback before the end of 2023, and it seemed like he was delivering on that promise when Dana White announced his role as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. However, recent reports have thrown doubts on McGregor’s return as it appears that he failed to re-enter the USADA testing pool within the required timeframe, rendering him ineligible to compete until next year.

Eddie Alvarez Calls out Michael Chandler After Conor McGregor Bout Delay

Amidst the uncertainty surrounding a potential Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler clash, former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez has thrown his hat in the ring, calling for a trilogy matchup against the former Bellator lightweight king.

“Hey Michael Chandler, you’ll never be without a potential opponent as long as I am still breathing buddy. Dana White [and] UFC know the deal. Trilogy time.”

Throughout their storied careers in the world of combat sports, Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez have shared the cage in two epic battles. These memorable encounters took place in 2011 and 2013 during their time with Bellator, with each fighter securing a victory in their respective matchups.

After departing from the UFC in 2018, Alvarez embarked on a new chapter, spending two years competing in ONE Championship before eventually finding his way to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). It was in his bare-knuckle boxing debut where the 39-year-old showcased his skills and resilience, delivering an unforgettable performance against Chad Mendes, which is now regarded as one of the most thrilling fights in the promotion’s history.

In a recent interaction with his fans, the NCAA Division I wrestler took the opportunity to send a message to McGregor when USADA paid him a visit at his home. Expressing his thoughts directly, he called out McGregor and made his intentions clear.

“You guys have all seen the news, Conor’s not in USADA… 179 days left until december 16th which is suppose to be last PPV of the year. Comically, USADA shows up at my door today, to add insult to injury. Where you at, boy?”
