  • Michael Chandler has confirmed that his UFC 303 main event bout with Conor McGregor is still taking place
  • Nothing has been officially changed in the UFC 303 cards and schedule

Michael Chandler insists that his long-awaited bout with Conor McGregor is still happening despite speculations that stemmed from the cancelled UFC 303 presser.

It’s on

Speaking on The Pivot podcast, “Iron,” first and foremost, clarified that he and “Notorious” are taking on each other on June 29th.

“I hope… Yeah, the fight’s happening,” Chandler said. “Obviously, where we are, there’s a lot of speculation, but yeah, the fight is on, June 29, it’s happening.”

“Obviously a cancelled presser, not that big of a deal,” he further explained. “It happens. But it’s the layers in which, ‘Okay if the presser is cancelled, is there something else going on?’ Then obviously immediately speculation starts going all over the place in 2024 with social media and all that stuff and I just kept resting on the fact that I can only control what I can control. I have been doing that now for a year and a half with this whole fight if you’ve been following it with all the different dates that have gone on and were supposed to happen but didn’t.”

“Now here we are fighting in June of 2024, and it’s a case of if you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans, right? This isn’t about me, I ain’t in control so we’re just going to roll with it,” he added.

It still looks good

The speculation Chandler was talking about began swirling after the scheduled UFC 303 press conference in Dublin, Ireland got cancelled in last minute. It later prompted McGregor to address the issue on social media and reassured fans that he is still making his highly-anticipated UFC return regardless of what has been happening behind the scenes.

As it stands, UFC 303 is still intact and nothing has been changed in the cards and its schedule. Barring the apparent drama with McGregor and his UFC media obligations, the fight is still taking place.

McGregor hasn’t fought in three years due to his gruesome leg injury at UFC 264 in 2021. Chandler, meanwhile, last fought in 2022 and has been patiently waiting for a showdown with “Notorious.”
