Michael Chandler took on Tony Ferguson in a high-stakes contest that both men needed to win. ‘Iron’ Mike went into the fight reeling from two losses as he looked to get back in the mix of title contention.

UFC president Dana White suggested the bout won’t have implications for Tony Ferguson, who was coming off three consecutive losses after his 12-fight win streak was broken by Justin Gaethje. Both men faced defeat against each of the main card’s headliners.

Safe to say, they left everything they had in the ring.

Round 1

The round opens up with a missed low kick from Ferguson. Chandler was cool in his movement as ‘El Cucuy’ kept looking for openings. Chandler went in with a few leg kicks of his own. Ferguson hits Chandler with a beautiful right and a clean follow-up straight left to drop him in the opening two minutes of the fight. Chandler quickly recovers to dodge the storm of Tony Ferguson. Chandler still going in to trade blows with a heavy risk. He takes Ferguson down with a double leg. Ferguson throws elbows to Chandler’s head as he looked for a submission. Chandler is bleeding from one of the elbows Ferguson landed. Chandler tried to land bombs from the top position. He lands some heavy bombs on Ferguson who’s still on the ground in full guard position. Ferguson gets warned thrice for grabbing the fence. Chandler thwarts Ferguson’s attempts of looking for a kimura sweep. In the same position, the two trade blows on the ground leaving both men with a cut.

Round 2

Chandler connects with a violent front kick to knock Tony Ferguson out cold in the opening seconds of the second round.
