UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping and light heavyweight fighter Anthony Smith have reacted to the recent Jon Jones injury.

Jones was expecting to meet Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 on November 11. The reigning UFC heavyweight champion suffered an injury while preparing for the title fight. Jones tore his pectoral tendon, which means he’s been forced to go under the knife. In place of Jones vs. Miocic will be an interim heavyweight championship fight between Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall.

Michael Bisping & Anthony Smith On Jon Jones’ Injury

During an episode of the “Believe You Me” podcast, Michael Bisping shared that wrestling was often the culprit of some of his biggest injuries.

“It’s always the bloody wrestling,” Bisping said. “Yeah, I’ve got my eye injury, other than that, all the big injuries are from wrestling. My neck, my back, my knees, wrestling, man. It’s just, by far, the hardest part.”

Smith shared his belief that Jones isn’t used to training as a heavyweight with other heavyweights because he spent most of his career fighting at 205 pounds.

“As he’s coming up, you can see there’s a lot of torque right there,” Smith said. “He almost had that takedown. That’s a lot of torque on that wizard, that’s how it happens. That’s a lot of shoulder injuries, a lot of pec injuries. It’s just part of it, and let’s just be honest and address the elephant in the room, Jones hasn’t been a heavyweight that long. These are bigger guys, he’s carrying a lot of load, he’s heavier than he’s ever been, he’s training probably with heavier guys than he ever had. That’s gotta play a little bit of a part.”
