Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith have different opinions on Sean Strickland saying he will stab Dricus Du Plessis if he brings up his childhood trauma.

Strickland recently got emotional on Theo Von’s podcast talking about his childhood trauma and then said if Du Plessis brought it up he would stab him. Although many doubt Strickland would stab Du Plessis, Bisping says the champ shouldn’t have said that, and instead just said he will punish him worse than he was going to if he brought it up.

“I wouldn’t say I’m going to stab you, I would say, oh you want to bring that up? You want to play that game? Bro, I’m going to beat the living shit out of you Saturday night,” Bisping said on Believe You Me. “I’m already going to beat you, I already plan on defending the belt, but if you go there, I’m going to punish you, brother. For five rounds, I’m going to put the worst beating ever, that you could imagine, I’m not going to knock you out, I’ll have you on the verge of unconsciousness, and I’ll let you come around. Don’t say I’m going to stab you.”

Anthony Smith, however, says he thinks Sean Strickland would be the type of person to actually stab Dricus Du Plessis. He also says if he does it, he wouldn’t have a problem with it as he warned Du Plessis.

“I think he would, to some people out there, something you bring up is painful enough it’s worth it… Maybe he is just talking shit and is exaggerating, but just says he does say something about him and Sean does stick one in his ribs, that is fair. That is all good with me because he warned you first,” Smith said.

Although Smith wouldn’t have a problem with it, if Strickland did stab Du Plessis, he would be arrested and stripped of his title.

Bisping & Smith share prediction for Strickland-Du Plessis

After discussing Sean Strickland’s comments, Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith shared their predictions for the UFC 297 title fight and disagreed on how the fight would play out.

“I’m picking Strickland, I think he sells wolf tickets to us sometimes. I don’t think he will go out there and be reckless, I’ve never seen him fight emotionally, ever,” Smith said.

Bisping, however, believes Du Plessis wins and does so by stoppage.

“I think Dricus gets it done, I do, I think he gets the stoppage. Maybe it’s recency bias, maybe it is the physicality, maybe it’s seeing him drop Robert Whittaker with a jab. I’ve got Dricus in that.”

Sean Strickland enters UFC 297 as a slight -135 favorite while Dricus Du Plessis is a +114 underdog.
