The exchange between Aljamain Sterling and John McCarthy continues.

The Beef

The recent rift between the two would all start with McCarthy stating there is no way that Sterling won the first round in his rematch against Petr Yan. The UFC Bantamweight Champion wouldn’t let McCarthy get away with his opinion, nor would he let Dana White or Robert Whittaker off the hook for their past criticisms of him.

The first stop on Sterling’s ‘victory tour’ would be to hit back out at McCarthy To sum it up, here’s a few nasty lines Sterling sent to the former referee

“I don’t know how the guy was ever the blue print standard of MMA, because that guy sucks,” Sterling said of McCarthy on The MMA Hour. “His opinions stink and suck.”

McCarthy Reacts

‘Big’ John would attempt to the bigger man in this case. He’d respond to the champ’s comments on Thursday.

“Alright @funkmasterMMA I see that what I say causes you great distress,” McCarthy wrote on Twitter. “The fact that I don’t agree on a single round should not effect or impact your life in anyway. I said you fought a great fight and you did, congratulations.

“Name calling…really, champions are above that.”

“It’s my opinion,” McCarthy said on MMA On Sirius XM. It’s his opinion and he could have his. I can have mine and he could not like me, it’s not going to change my life. I really don’t care.

“Fighters always… when you say good things about them, they like you. If you don’t agree with what they did or go against them and say you thought somebody else won… you’re the worst. So, I’m the worst.”
