  • Marvin Vettori is not in favor of Isreal Adesanya getting a quick rematch with Sean Strickland
  • “The Italian Dream” thinks he and other Top-5 middleweights are better title fight candidates

Marvin Vettori is not convinced that Israel Adesanya still wants to rematch Sean Strickland. For “The Italian Dream,” Strickland has a lot of other options, including himself who is more interesting than Izzy.

Izzy is Done

Speaking to An0maly, Vettori said he doesn’t see Adesanya having the hunger to reclaim his title. If anything, he thinks Izzy knew Strickland would beat him again.

“I just don’t like this guy… I don’t f**king like this guy so I personally think that he doesn’t deserve a f**king rematch. Why?  I don’t even think he wants a rematch. He felt like he’s gonna lose again so I don’t even think like he wants the rematch right now and yeah I mean like let’s see what Sean will do at the time,” Vettori exclaimed.

“I think Adesanya’s time is you know, like it’s over, it has passed… So we’ll see but I don’t think that rematch would even sell I don’t know,” he added.

There’s a lot in store for Sean

Vettori is currently the No. 5 middleweight contender. Above him are Jared Cannonier, Robert Whittaker and Dricus du Plessis. The way he sees it, they are all interesting matchups for the newly crowned champ.

“I think Du Plessis is on the line. He beat up like Whittaker the way he did, you cannot deny him a f**king title shot man, way more than Adesanya… Oh! f**king Jared, like I mean Jared too,” Vettori said. “… Definitely, I would be way more excited to see Strickland and De Plessis or even a rematch [with] Cannonier and down the road who f**king knows, I’ll be there.”

“Me and Strickland actually got offered to fight each other a while ago but we’ve talked to each other and we’re like we’ll do it eventually [but] you’ll have to give us a race because we just do it for money basically. [But] over the title, we always knew like [we’ll fight] over the title,” he continued.

While Vettori made a good point, UFC president Dana White is already rooting for a Strickland vs. Adesanya rematch after claiming “The Last Stylebender” did not look like he was in his best form at UFC 293.
