  • Sean O’Malley surprisingly reacted to the incident

Marlon Vera and his family experienced a home invasion while they were in Miami for UFC 299 over the weekend.

The robber picked a perfect time

While Vera was trying to dethrone Sean O’Malley in their epic rematch at UFC 299, a robber was breaking into his house. María Paulina Escobar, Vera’s spouse, revealed on her Instagram Story on Tuesday that their house had been unlawfully entered. She also confirmed that there were things that had been stolen.

“The context is last night there was a robbery. They broke into our house. Though they are material things, they are things that have been bought with a lot of effort and hard work. But hey, these types of things happen and the truth is, tonight will be a good one. Tonight, the gold belt (as Eli calls it) will be ours. God with us and to the person who did it. I really hope he needed the money for something important. Much love,” she wrote.

Sean felt for Chito

Vera also let his followers know about the robbery, posting a picture on his Instagram Story of the entry point used by the intruder. Surprisingly, O’Malley gave a short yet sympathetic reaction by simply commenting, “That’s f**ked.”

Vera and O’Malley have been feuding heading into their UFC 299 title fight. There’s no indication that they already squashed their beef but it appears that “Sugar” is not happy about what happened to “Chito.”

Vera failed to beat O’Malley in their five-round battle and as it stands, they are now officially 1-1 in their rivalry. It is yet to be determined though if a trilogy bout would ever take place.
