Khamzat Chimaev is gearing up for UFC 294, and his physique has fight fans in awe.
UFC President Dana White dropped a bombshell when he announced that Chimaev will be taking on Costa inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 21. Costa was initially scheduled to take on Ikram Aliskerov at UFC 291 on July 29. White announced that the UFC has pivoted to Chimaev vs. Costa. Aliskerov will also now be competing at UFC 294, and he’ll be meeting Nassourdine Imavov.

“Borz” was last seen in action back in September 2022. Chimaev defeated Kevin Holland via first-round submission. The undefeated fighter’s absence since that fight has remained a mystery. UFC President Dana White once said Chimaev was dealing with personal problems, but “Borz” denied that claim.
Regardless, Chimaev is finally scheduled for another UFC bout and it’s a big one. A win for Chimaev would mark the second time he’s beaten a former UFC title challenger. The first time was against Gilbert Burns in a memorable three-round war back in April 2022 that resulted in a unanimous decision win for Chimaev.
There has been a war of words between Chimaev and Costa on social media and in person. Chimaev is hoping to keep his momentum going and eventually obtain UFC gold. Costa wants to derail the hype train and get another opportunity at the UFC Middleweight Championship.
