After Elon Musk reached out to Khabib Nurmagomedov to help him prepare for his upcoming fight with Mark Zuckerberg, a source from Russia stated that the former UFC lightweight champion’s team rejected the billionaire’s offer. It was later revealed that Nurmagomedov is not interested in supporting someone who has different philosophies in life than his.
Khabib’s beliefs are stronger than any massive Fight
The news was first broken by Russian outlet TASS, citing an unnamed source.
“Elon Musk wanted Khabib Nurmagomedov to help him prepare for the fight against Zuckerberg. However, Khabib declined this proposal and we do not know the reasons [for his refusal],” the source said.
An update from Nurmagomedov’s representatives later stated the reason why “The Eagle” wouldn’t train, coach or support Musk in any way. According to the report, the difference between Nurmagomedov and Musk’s stance on non-sport related things such as “life, alcohol and drugs” matters to the UFC legend. On top of that, Nurmagomedov insisted that he is done with combat sports and not even as famous as Musk could change his mind, per DD Geopolitics.
“According to representatives of Khabib Nurmagomedov, he refused because he trains only his guys, whom he knows personally,” the report read.
“- It could also have a negative impact on the image of the wrestler, since he and Musk have different views on life, alcohol and drugs.”
“Khabib refused for reasons of principle. He ended his coaching and sports career, nothing can change that. Musk’s status also does not play any role. Although Khabib regularly receives offers both to be a coach and to return to sports” – said the representative of the athlete to the TASS agency.”

The fight is On
Prior to Khabib, Musk already trained with former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre. On the other hand, Zuckerberg had also linked up with big-name UFC stars as he gears up for the match. Among them were current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and current featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski.
