Set your flux capacitor to March 18th 2011, the day when we wrote an article that announced the end of the renowned Japanese MMA magazine known as ‘Kamipro’. Sure we couldn’t really understand anything within the magazine, but everyone at MiddleEasy respected the hell out of these guys for their sheer ingenuity. The pictures and design, if anything, caught our attention years ago. When you have a magazine cover that questions if God punished Shinya Aoki after his Dynamite!! 2009 fiasco against Hirota, then you’ve undoubtedly ascended to an intangible plane of esoteric rawesomeness, and that’s what we love.
Our farewell article (read by few) paid our respects to the death of the once great MMA media entity that emerged from Japan. Now it appears that the crew from Kamipro have formed together like Voltron to manifest another endeavor in the print world. ‘DropKick’ magazine has launched in Japan and features an exclusive interview with Takanori Gomi where he claims that the days of Pride FC are far from over. The magazine also suggests the UFC will come to Japan at some point in the Spring of 2012.
Sure you can’t understand it, but if you want to get the debut issue for a cool price of 1,280 yen, go right ahead. Our subscription is on the way, and we will use it to cut out the pictures and hang them on our walls (because we’re geeks). [Source]
