Jorge Masvidal is bringing some former UFC fighters to the boxing ring.

Jorge Masvidal has taken some time away from competition to focus on his personal life. He last fought in the UFC Octagon back in March of 2022 in a unanimous decision loss to Colby Covington. After the fight, the animosity between himself and Covington was not settled and the two were involved in an altercation outside of a restaurant in Miami, Florida. Masvidal was arrested following the incident and his court case is pending.

Previously Masvidal stated that he wanted his charges and legal matters to be over before he stepped foot back in the cage and now with that all in the process of resolution, he has agreed to face Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in his hometown of Miami on April 8.

In his time away from the UFC, the legal troubles were not the only thing taking up Masvidal’s time, he was also setting up his very own fight promotion. Around the same time as his arrest, he started Gamebred Fighting Championship, a bare-knuckle style fight promotion. The organization has only held a handful of events but now Masvidal has announced that he is moving toward boxing. He is holding the first Gamebred Boxing event on April 1. He announced this news on The MMA Hour.

“Let’s start it. Let’s start with this, one week before my fight, April 1, this is straight boxing. This is Gamebred Boxing,” he said. “This is just bulk sale. But yes, boxing with the gloves, all that stuff right now. It’s not bare-knuckle boxing. Tickets go on sale actually today at 2 pm. This is a good one. I’m excited. This is talking about two months and a half of hard work. I mean, my team, shout out to everybody involved in these deals. It was a lot of work in progress.”

Masivdal went on to rattle off a huge fight card that consists of many former UFC fighters including Anthony Pettis, Jose Aldo, Jeremy Stephens, and more. Aldo recently retired from MMA and will now be making his move to boxing against Stephens following his debut in Feb. Another former UFC fighter, Anthony Pettis will be fighting Roy Jones Jr as the main event.

The entire fight card as announced by Masvidal is as follows:

  • Anthony Pettis vs. Roy Jones Jr.
  • Jeremy Stephens vs. Jose Aldo
  • Jacare Souza vs. Vitor Belfort
  • Paul Daley vs. Anthony Taylor
  • Pearl Gonzalez vs. Gina Mazany
  • Devin Cushing vs. Damien Marciano
  • Dillon Cleckler vs. Josh Burns
