Jorge Masvidal wants to avenge his knockout loss to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, which “haunts” him to this day.
Jorge Masvidal Wants Revenge On Kamaru Usman
Masvidal’s manager Malki Kawa was recently interviewed by MMA Underground, where he revealed the plans for his client’s mixed martial arts (MMA) career moving forward.
Kawa said he believes Masvidal wants a big win over a top-ranked opponent, setting up a trilogy fight with Usman, which very well could be the last fight of his career.
“Masvidal was doing good in that first round and then he gets caught and he gets KOed which by the way was a vicious knockout,” Kawa said (via MMA Mania). “I’m not taking nothing away from [Usman].
“So that haunts [Masvidal] a little bit. He wants to fight somebody who can get his name back in there in that Top 5, beat somebody, and then he wants to fight Usman one last time and then that might be it.”

Masvidal first faced off against Usman back in July of 2020 on short-notice. Despite the short-notice, Masvidal went all five rounds with the champion, coming up short via unanimous decision.
They rematched the following year in April, but the story was much different. Usman instead finished Masvidal in the second round with a vicious knockout punch.
It was the first time Masvidal had ever been knocked out cold in his MMA career. Now, he’s looking to avenge that haunting loss, but to do that, he’ll need a big win over a top opponent first
