Jon Anik voiced how he wanted the cookie to crumble for UFC legends Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson.

More weight, more power

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Anik pointed out that McGregor returning to fight Michael Chandler at middleweight has no relevance at all division-wise. The way he sees it, “Notorious” and his team are just optimistic that his injured leg would be stronger if they don’t cut too much weight.

“The only defense for that fight happening at middleweight, with respect to my friend Conor, is his leg. If just don’t want him, and he just doesn’t want to cut the weight just to try and have that leg as strong as humanly possible to try to get through that first fight but it has no divisional relevance at 185, really doesn’t have much at 70 and I have long sort of wished that Conor McGregor would compete more at 155 pounds. He has only one lightweight win career-wise in the UFC against Eddie Alvarez, he did not defend successfully defend the lightweight title so I don’t know. I just like to see the man competing at 55,” Anik speculated.

Tony for the Hall of Fame

Anik also shared his thoughts on Ferguson’s case of being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. For Anik, “El Cucuy” rightfully deserves it and if given a chance, he would do anything to ensure Ferguson gets it.

“I will fight like hell for Tony Ferguson to get in. I think sometimes the interim champions can become interesting cases. But maybe I won’t have to fight for Tony. But if there needs to be a fight for Tony Ferguson to get into the UFC Hall of Fame as a modern-era fighter on the merits of his individual accomplishments and not a singular fight like he has against Lando Vannata or Edson Barboza, we’ve got to get Ferguson in on the merits of that 12-fight lightweight winning streak,” Anik said.

McGregor and Ferguson are both household names in the UFC. As it stands, they appear to be taking opposite paths. McGregor is set for his much-awaited UFC comeback, while Ferguson, on the other hand, is seemingly heading towards the tail-end of his legendary career.
