Joe Lauzon is the undisputed king of UFC fight night bonus checks (and fight week vlogs)

If I put all of you reading this article into a room and told you to raise your hand if you have ever been the undisputed king of anything in your life, there would probably only be three or four of you with your hands up. I’ve never been the King of anything, mostly because I’m a girl and when I was growing up girls were not allowed to be kings. I did win the state of Ohio recycling campaign poster design contest when I was in third grade though. In my mind I was the undisputed king/queen of crayon colorings in the name of environmental awareness, and that was before being environmentally correct was cool. I was ahead of my time.

Unfortunately, back then no one was recording phone footage or instagramming pictures of what it took for me to earn that coveted title and a years supply of recycled college ruled notebook paper. The only evidence I have is my poster shoved in some dingy yellowing scrapbook album in my parents’ attic. If I had won this title today I could have shared the whole poster making experience with you via a vlog. Unfortunately though, it wouldn’t be half as entertaining as the fight week vlogs Joe Lauzon creates for us to watch.

Joe Lauzon always creates awesome fight week vlogs. He truly takes you on a start to finish ride through what its like to be J-Lau in the week leading up to the fight. His vlogs for UFC on FOX 4 might be the best ones he has released to date and they have definitely made him king of fight week vlogs in my eyes. I figure it’s appropriate to deem him king of vlogs this week to coincide with earning two more fight night bonuses and being crowned the offical record breaking fight night bonus check earning king of the UFC.

What does a guy with the mentality of Joe Lauzon do with all that record breaking bonus money? Here’s what he told Yahoo Sports:

“I probably made about $150,000 this weekend. I made forty-something in show-and-win money and then I got $100,000 in bonuses.”

“I’m buying lots of X-Boxes. (laughs) Right off the bat, I have taxes. So that leaves me with about $100,000. I bought a house the other year, so $60,000-70,000 of this weekend’s money is probably going straight into my mortgage. I’ve got about $40,000 in student loan debt left so I have to decide how much I might put into that now. Loans suck, so I’ve got to take care of that.”

“I’m not getting a new car or big rims. Nothing crazy. I’ll probably take $1,000 and do something fun with it, that’s it.”

“I think I pay my coaches pretty well. I also bring out a lot of guys out with me for fights to help me and pay to bring Brandon, the guy who does my Vlogs, with and get him equipment to do it. That stuff is important, too. I don’t think that doing blogs necessarily brings back money directly to me but it helps. I’m always going to make sure I do everything I need to do to train to the best of my ability. If that means flying people out to train or things like that, I’m going to do that.”

Sounds like Joe Lauzon is going to use his winnings in a much smarter way than I did all of that free recycled college paper I won in my poster contest. I mostly used mine to pass notes to my friends in class filled with cuss words I didn’t even really understand the true meaning of at the time. I just wasn’t ready to have all of that paper in my life at the time. I’m sure you guys all feel so bad about the misuse of my paper fortune and need some cheering up, so go ahead and watch the four vlogs J-Lau created this week to put you in better mood. Enjoy.
