Jens Pulver has not retired and will headline an event in Minneapolis

Something about Jens Pulver potentially stringing together a seventh loss in a row deters me from writing about his impending bout in Minneapolis, Minnesota. No opponent has been named, nor should there be. Jens Pulver has already accomplished everything a lightweight could possibly achieve in the sport. There’s nothing left. Perhaps Pulver doesn’t realize that every lightweight can only aspire to have a career like his. The guy was the first UFC lightweight champion, successfully defended it twice and just left the UFC which forced the organization to remove the entire division. Yes, Jens Pulver was so dominate in a division that when he left, it was removed. Just think about that.

Now we come to the part of the story that just makes me want to smack my forehead into a large, immovable object. According to Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts News, Jens Pulver is scheduled to headline the main event of a CFX/Extreme Challenge co-promoted card in the Target Center in 2011. Here’s what the promoter said about exploiting Jens Pulver’s fame to place money in his bank account.

“We’re really excited to have him up here fighting in Minneapolis. He’s obviously a legend, one of the best ever. We’re honored to be able to see him fight here in Minnesota. It’s not every day that a UFC champion fights here. Jens wants to keep fighting, but he knows he needs a couple of wins to keep doing that. He hopes to start that here in Minnesota.”

We interviewed Jens Pulver and spent a good portion discussing the science of videogames. The guy’s World of Warcraft account was hacked and he doesn’t blame it for his recent losing streak. Jens Pulver probably wants to end his career on a win, and most people do. I can’t be alone when I say that I just don’t want to see Jens Pulver rack up another loss. Win Pulver, please. [Source]
