Jan Blachowicz is calling bullsh*t on Paulo Costa’s recent callout.
After signing a new deal with the UFC reportedly worth upwards of $1 million per fight, Paulo Costa is still looking for his first bout of 2023. Rumors of a potential meeting with Sean Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev have been swirling around in recent months, but based on his Twitter feed, Costa has another man in mind.
Ready to step inside the Octagon, Costa called out former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz, suggesting they work together to save the promotion’s pay-per-view offering next month.
“May 6 ppv event is in trouble. Jan blachowicz vs Costa could be the salvation,” Costa tweeted. “I go up 205 on all juice. Let me know.”

Costa would then go on to suggest that Blachowicz was ducking the fight in a follow-up tweet, saying:
“I don’t like to say somebody is ducking me or this kind stuffs , maybe he is injured or fatty than me, I really dont know,he should has his reasons . I just know FAT PAULO IS READY to GO IN may 6. It’s a perfect match, don’t need to cut to much weight. I’m in all day.”

The event was originally slated to host a potential lightweight title eliminator between No. 4 ranked contender Beneil Dariush and former 155-pound king Charles Oliveira. The bout was recently pushed back to UFC 289 the following month after ‘Do Bronx’ sustained an injury during training.
Jan Blachowicz Says Paulo Costa Already Turned Down the Fight He’s Calling For
Responding to Paulo Costa’s call for a co-main event clash on May 6, Jan Blachowicz claimed that ‘The Eraser’ had already been offered the fight and has since turned it down, contradicting his own callout on social media.
“So a few days ago @BorrachinhaMMA got offered to fight me,” Blachowicz tweeted in response. “I’ve said YES, he said – NO. The fight is OFF. How much juice does he need? 1 bottle of wine is enough to knock out this guy.”

Costa has since responded to Blachowicz’s claim.
“Dude looks uncomfortable,” Costa tweeted. “Cmon mtfk don’t turn down, the event need to be saved.”
Costa did not outright deny turning down the fight as Blachowicz said, but it does appear that ‘The Eraser’ has at the very least turned the tables on the former light heavyweight champion, suggesting he is the one running from a potential showdown, negating any potential backlash from fight fans.
Do you want to see Paulo Costa move up to 205 for a meeting with Jan Blachowicz or should ‘The Eraser’ stick to middleweight?
