Jamie Varner isn’t a Urijah Faber fan

Last night, Benson Henderson unified the WEC lightweight belts at the Arco Arena. You probably noticed the crowd nearly rioted from the fight preceding the main event. Urijah Faber is as much a hero to Sacramento as Batman is to Gotham City. The WEC isn’t trying to hide the fact that Faber is the face of their organization and with impressive victories like his 3rd round submission of Raphael Assuncao, who can blame them?

Recently, AMP energy drink became the official energy drink of the WEC, making Urijah the official AMP spokesperson as well. If you’re wondering where Jamie Varner fits into this picture, well…that’s what he’s wondering too. Varner feels he’s a bigger attraction than Faber and the WEC & AMP partnership was entirely his idea, yet somehow he was screwed out of the deal:

“It should be called The Urijah Faber Show instead of World Extreme Cagefighting. They keep giving Faber all of the big promotional deals, in fact they just hooked him up with Amp Energy Drink. Amp just became the official energy drink of the WEC. I called the WEC regarding Amp about two months ago because a buddy of mine who works with Pepsi told me about it. I asked the WEC to get me on board with them and they said they would see what they could do. Lo and behold Faber got the deal.”

I know what it’s like to have someone take credit for your ideas, and it’s pretty demeaning. Like this one time I put lobster in my tacos and it was amazing…then Tito Ortiz stole it from me. Bummer. [Source]
