  • Jamahal Hill is not happy with how UFC 297’s headliners played out
  • “Sweet Dreams” thought Dricus du Plessis did not perform well but still won the middleweight title

Jamahal Hill heavily criticized UFC 297’s headliners for being lackluster title fights.

The co-main event was a fail

Speaking on his YouTube channel, “Sweet Dreams” bluntly expressed his disappointment over Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva’s bantamweight title fight. For Hill, it was “one of the worst” title fights ever simply because both fighters did not perform at a high level.

“We had probably one of the worst title fights that I’ve ever seen in the [UFC 297] co-main event,” Hill said. “Whenever I seen it, it just didn’t seem real that this is actually championship level or being considered championship level MMA and fighting. It was a sad display of MMA and the fact that somebody can be crowned a champion off of that performance to me, was just like kind of sad whatever like I feel whenever you come up and show up as a champion, there’s a certain level that you need to perform to and that’s incumbent up on both people in that fight and I don’t think that was met whatsoever.”

Hill got Sean winning

Hill went on and weighed in on the main event. According to the former light heavyweight champ, Sean Strickland probably won three rounds but he’s not calling it a “robbery” that the judges saw Dricus du Plessis winning.

However, “Sweet Dreams” is also not satisfied with how Du Plessis performed considering it’s a championship fight.

“I had Sean winning that fight,” Hill said. “I had Sean winning rounds one, three and five. I thought it was 2-2 heading into the fifth and I think Sean did enough to win that fifth round but however, I don’t think it was a robbery. It was a close enough fight to where you couldn’t call the robbery.”

“My only problem with it was the fact that it’s a championship fight. I think if you beat the champ you have to beat the champ and I don’t think that was what happened on Saturday,” he added.

Like Hill, UFC president Dana White also saw Strickland winning. However, the UFC boss is not considering the possibility of a rematch. As for the women’s bantamweight title, Julianna Pena already expressed her desire to fight for the title way before Pennington beat Silva.
