Scott Holtzman’s last dance comes at UFC Orlando.
Before ‘Hot Sauce’ heads into retirement, he faces off against UFC hall-of-famer Clay Guida at lightweight.
Round 1:
Holtzman starts off the fight with heavy leg kicks on Guida. ‘The Carpenter’ looks to put together some combos on the feet but Holtzman evades effectively. Guida fires off a few good leg kicks which land. Holtzman keeps Guida on the back foot and close to the cage with his insane pressure.
Both men fire a lot of shots but most of them miss towards the final minute. Guida swings wildly before attempting to clinch with Holtzman, who holds him off. Guida cracks Holtzman with a big right hand to end the round.
Round 2:
The second round of ‘Hot Sauce’ and Guida begins with some heat. The two fighters trade in the pocket with Guida looking to get Holtzman to the ground. Holtzman defends well and they separate. Guida tries for another takedown and gets it with a huge slam of Holtzman.
The veterans continue to trade on the feet. Guida lands a punch and attempts a takedown which is shut down by Holtzman. Holtzman hits Guida with a slick uppercut. Guida grabs the back of Holtzman, who tries to get Holtzman to the ground. After some work in the clinch, Guida finally drags Holtzman to the mat momentarily.
Round 3:
Holtzman and Guida wildly exchange on the feet, with Holtzman getting the better shots off of Guida. Two great hooks land for Holtzman who continues to throw. Guida wraps his hands around the hips of Holtzman and tries for a takedown. ‘The Carpenter’ drives Holtzman to the cage and gets a huge takedown via slam.
Holtzman gets back up to his feet, only for Guida to take him down again. Holtzman tries to get back to his feet, even illegally grabbing the cage to attempt to do so. But, the referee slaps his hand away and Holtzman is held down until the final bell.
Official result: Clay Guida defeats Scott Holtzman via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29)
