- Henry Cejudo is calling for a match against Brandon Moreno on Mexican Independence Day
- “Triple C” believes he and “The Assassin Baby” should finally settle their feud inside the Octagon
Henry Cejudo was quick to find a potential opponent after deciding to cancel on his retirement. He now wants a showdown with Brandon Moreno on Mexican Independence Day.
Henry wants to settle it
Speaking on his YouTube channel, “Triple C” provided everything that the UFC would possibly want to hear to give a fight with Moreno a thumbs up. According to Cejudo, aside from being both former champions, he and “The Assassin Baby” also have a storyline already, having had a feud which dates back to the Season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter.
With that said, Cejudo insists that it’s only fitting that he and Moreno settle their beef this Mexican Independence Day at UFC 306 in Las Vegas.
“I think the only way that we’re both going to be able to kind of respect each other once again is if we’re able to fight if we’re able to kind of put these politics aside. I felt like as the older brother cuz we did become tight, I wanted to kind of beat him up I kind of wanted to beat up my little brother for a little bit but and it still didn’t mean that I ain’t have that I guess that love for him but I’ll never forget it because this is kind of where it stopped and this is kind of where I let sh*t go,” Cejudo began.
“What fight would be better than ‘Triple C’ vs. Brandon Moreno, the Mexican-American vs. the true Mexican, and they come together, and they do a five-round showdown – at The Sphere, in Las Vegas, for Mexican Independence Day? I like it. I think if there’s any way we should settle it, enough talking, enough cringing, enough antics, and enough all of that. The only way to get it on, Brandon Moreno, is I accept your challenge. Let’s do it: Mexican Independence Day. What you got? You gonna sign that contract? Are you a Mexican, or a Mexican’t?,” he teased.
“Are you going to pull this whole Canelo Alvarez that doesn’t want to fight David Benavidez or are you a Julio Cesar Chavez that takes all comers again, I think we I think we should settle it… I think the storyline is there. I think the history is there,” he added. “I think you have two former champions that have lost, and that are now coming together to pull one of the greatest showdowns in UFC history. I’m just waiting for the call.”
Both badly needs a win
Apart from the interesting narrative, another thing that makes Cejudo vs. Moreno a fight that makes sense is the fact that they both need to get back to the win column so bad. As it stands, “Triple C” and “The Assassin Baby” are still the top guys in their respective divisions. However, they also have lost their last two fights to fellow top contenders.
Cejudo failed to secure the W against Mreab Divalishdili at UFC 298 while Moreno also lost via split decision to Brandon Royval at UFC Mexico.
