In 2004 I ‘met’ Scottie Pippen outside of the Nordstroms shopping mall right off Michigan Ave in Chicago. Now by ‘met’ I mean I stepped in front of his huge oncoming frame, stuck my wavering finger at his large torso and repeatedly told him: ‘You are the man.’ over and over again until he put his huge hand on my shoulder and told me that ‘it’s OK’ and I could ‘stop shaking now’. This is the common reaction of any suburban white male that was alive in the Chicagoland area in the 90’s. Scottie Pippen was the man and in a few ways he still is. Watching the latest Dana White Vlog reminds me of that fateful day meeting number 33…Except meeting Scottie had nothing to do with fighting, UFC on Fox or the behind the scenes looks at JDS Vs. Cain.
