Germaine de Randamie Vs. Raquel Pennington Set For UFC Denver

Germaine de Randamie Will Square Off Against Raquel Pennington At UFC Denver

It has been over a year since Germaine de Randamie won the Inaugural women’s featherweight champion now returning to Octagon to face a bantamweight title challenger Raquel Pennington.

On Thursday UFC officially announced that Pennington and De Randamie would clash at UFC Fight Night 139 on November 10th from Pepsi Center in Denver.

De Randamie (7-3) last fought at UFC 208 where she emerged victorious after beating Holly Holm via unanimous decision back in 2017. Promotion stripped of her title after she balked to defend her title against Cris Cyborg, citing Brazilian having PEDs issues in the past. Later she announced to return to bantamweight and was booked against Marion Reneau last September, but an ongoing hand problem forced her out of that bout. The same situation happened for a planned showdown vs. Ketlen Vieira at UFC Fight Night 125 in February 2018, ultimately ended having hand surgery.

Pennington’s four-fight win streak snapped in May when she lost the opportunity to win the title against Amanda Nunes via fifth-round TKO at UFC 224. There was a lot of criticism generated over her corner who forcefully send her to fight for last round after saying “I’m done. I want to be done.” Later she defended her corner’s decision as the right call.

A women’s strawweight matchup between Ashley Yoder and Amanda Cooper also added in the card. Yoder and Cooper both came up short in their last outing inside the Octagon against Mackenzie Dern. Especially Yoder who is winless in her previous three fights and need of a desperate victory.

Dana White Contender Series Maycee Barber who’s coming off a third-round TKO of Jamie Colleen get a call for big show will face off against Maia Stevenson, who lost her octagon debut recently.

UFC Fight Night 139 features a featherweight main event between Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung, who also known as “The Korean Zombie.
