Georges St-Pierre Slapped Down Rumors About His Drop To Lightweight Division

Georges St-Pierre:” I Didn’t Say I Was Going To Do It, I Want To Come Back For A Good Fight”

If you were tracking Georges St-Pierre since his fight versus Michael Bisping, you should have noticed he looks thinner. He won UFC Middleweight title at UFC 217 on November 4, 2017. St-Pierre vacated the title on December 7, 2017, after only 34 days of holding the belt!

Georges St-Pierre says the rumors about his drop to Lightweight division were made up. According to St-Pierre, people need good headlines to sell news. GSP claims he didn’t say he had plans on doing it. (via MMAMania.com)

”I didn’t say I was going to do it,” St-Pierre said (via Sportsnet). “People headlined me the wrong way, to sell articles. That’s the society we live in.”

If this was the fake news, it wouldn’t be the first time. Remember “the fight” between Paige Van Zant and Rachel Ostovich. On the other side, Georges St-Pierre deals with ulcerative colitis for a long period of time. It could also lead to weight shredding. At the moment, GSP doesn’t plan to sign any contract. There aren’t big chances we will see him fighting in 2018.

”I don’t want to sign a contract for a fight right now,” he said. “I don’t want to say I’m going to commit to something.”

Georges St-Pierre wants to return for a good match which he could win. According to St-Pierre, legacy is more important than money at the moment.

”I want to come back for a good fight,” St-Pierre admitted. “I want to come back for a fight that I can win, that I can gain something in terms of legacy. Not only money, but in terms of legacy. Because I have a lot more to lose than to win.”

What are your thoughts on this? Would you like to see Georges St-Pierre headlining UFC 231 or UFC 232? Or fighting versus the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs Conor McGregor?
