As UFC 226 is closing in, fighters are heating the atmosphere up. Francis Ngannou hopes to punch Derrick Lewis out!
The best Cameroonian mixed martial artist of all time, Francis Ngannou, currently thinks about one thing – beating Derrick Lewis at UFC 226. If he executes his intentions with style, nobody can stop him from getting a title shot. Ngannou also hopes for a rematch against Stipe Miocic.
Francis Ngannou (11-2) is still sad due to his loss from Stipe Miocic at UFC 220. The Predator defeated some elite-level fighters including Andrei Arlovski and Alistair Overeem. He has some serious knockout power, which was broken by guess who? Derrick Lewis! It makes their rivalry even bigger!
The Predator confessed many things were messed up during his fight with Miocic. Francis Ngannou also hopes he will not repeat the same mistakes again. After all, he is a stand-up specialist, he needs to improve his takedown defense. The Cameroonian also opened up about the future plans. (via bloodyelbow.com)
“When he [Lewis] started to talk, I tried to reply, but I realized that a lot of things don’t make sense,” Ngannou said. “I won’t be silly, so I stopped. I let him do his thing. Maybe it’s his personality. But the guy, by himself, I don’t know him. We never know what is behind a fighter until we meet. Sometimes it’s just about business.”
But Francis Ngannou was very cautious when he was asked about the fight with Derrick Lewis. He claims this is the collision of two big Heavyweight competitors, who both want to climb to the top of the division. But maybe the Cameroonian superstar has some plans on strategy change which could be a great option, especially considering Derrick Lewis has a positive score with too offensive fighters – Gabriel Gonzaga, Travis Browne, Marcin Tybura…
“OK, I’m another big guy. Instead of going forward, we will be smarter and go back to the Francis before the last fight. Watch my opponent, leave it, come to me, and as soon as he gives me the opportunity, I take it.”
Stipe Miocic will face Daniel Cormier at the main event of UFC 226. This will be the amazing collision of two impressive wrestlers. Francis Ngannou is sure that a victory over Derrick Lewis will give him a title shot or at least a rematch with Stipe Miocic, depending on the outcome of the fight.
“I want both, I want the title, and I want the rematch against Stipe.” Ngannou said. “Doesn’t matter what happens. I want to fix this.”
But let’s remember the days when Derrick Lewis broke Ngannou’s record and threw cold water at Cameroonian’s fans. We expect a war of two world-class punchers and a first-round knockout. What do you think, will Francis Ngannou get a chance for another title shot? Will Ngannou try Mark Hunt’s style out and defeat Lewis?
