Francis Ngannou last fought in the main event of UFC 220 against UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic as the favorite but lost the bout via dominant decision. That loss snapped Ngannou’s ten-fight winning streak.
Derrick Lewis is coming off a third-round knockout win over Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night 126 this past February. Lewis won seven of his last eight fights.
The heavyweight contenders have been trading shots via social media and in interviews for more than a year.
UFC 226 is set to take place on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main event features Stipe Miocic, who looks to defends the heavyweight belt against light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
