Roots of Fight honors another form of fighting with this dark vintage washed style dedicated to the discipline of Russian Sambo. Originally developed in the early 1920s by the Soviet Red Army to perfect their hand-to-hand combat skills, Sambo (which means “self defense without weapons”) mixes together some of the most effective techniques from various martial arts including Judo, Muay Thai, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling. Also used in modern times during battle by the likes of Fedor Emelianenko, Sambo has evolved to become one of the most effective fighting techniques for competitive sport and military combat purposes. One of many new styles from the Spring 2012 Roots of Fight clothing collection, the front of this tee features hand drawn Russian prison tattoo art with a premium vintage dyed design that incorporates a couple of crowned skulls and a castle.
