Fabricio Werdum Thinks He’s Next In Line To Face Stipe Miocic

Fabricio Werdum, a UFC heavyweight kingpin, believes he should be next in line for a title shot against current heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

Stipe Miocic took the heavyweight title by defeating Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198 in May 2016, and since then Miocic has successfully defended his belt 3 times, including a unanimous decision win over surging contender Francis Ngannou at UFC 220 on Jan 20th in Boston.

Werdum told reporters at UFC 220 event that rematch with Stipe Miocic is what’s next for him, and he will be able to recover the title this year.

“The UFC said nothing yet, but I think I’m the next one,” Werdum told reporters at UFC 220 (via MMA Junkie). “I deserve this. 100 percent, I will be a champion this year again. I know Stipe Miocic. I respect him. I like him. He doesn’t say nothing like bad things. He’s a nice guy, for sure. But, 100 percent: When I fought him before, I lost (to) myself. I lost (to) me.”

Fabricio Werdum, meanwhile, puts together a 3-1 record across that same span, recently scoring back-to-back wins over Walt Harris and Marcin Tybura, his sole loss was the majority decision to Alistair Overeem. As of now, the UFC has made no plans for Miocic-Werdum 2, but it’s a fight that makes sense.

Recently, UFC brass Dana White, speaking of Cormier and Stipe, he likes the idea of “DC” moving back up to heavyweight to face Stipe Miocic for the title. However, Cormier, though, doesn’t seem too high on the possibility of that happening, because of his teammate Cain Velasquez may be gearing up to make his highly anticipated return to action.

Do you guys think UFC should book Werdum vs. Miocic super fight?
