Evolve and Jackson’s MMA have joined forces

I’m most certainly in the minority but I watched Avengers Assemble twice in order to figure out why people liked it. I couldn’t. I thought it was an awful movie. I like the premise: an evil which no superhero can defeat means a team comes together to take it out. Awesome. Maybe I didn’t like it because I pick and choose which films to watch rather than simply watching everything with the Marvel stamp, so a number of things were lost on me which would be understood by anyone who is familiar with the Marvel canon. Either way, I didn’t enjoy it, so now I avoid any news on movies about super-teams. It’s the only way to avoid being hurt again.

One story slipped under my filter though, because it came from EVOLVE MMA. According to a press release, the Singapore based team have joined forces with Jackson’s MMA to form a “strategic partnership”. This will allow the two teams “to share training knowledge, coaching methodologies, fight strategies, and other fight-related experience”. Whoa!

The idea of Clay Guida being taught a twister by Shinya Aoki and pulling it out the bag in his next fight may be a little far-fetched; however the first action of this new partnership is the Elite Fighter’s Exchange Program where both fighters of all levels and coaches will visit each other to train and learn from one another.

This might not be sweet, sweet music to the ears of Dana White, since the risk that fighters from Evolve and Jackson’s may not want to fight each other but for the rest of us, it’s a win/win. Having Jon Jones learn from top level Thais such as Namsaknoi and Orono Wor Petchpun is enough for me to start salivating.

“In my opinion, Greg Jackson is the top MMA coach in the world. It is a true honor and privilege for our fighters at Evolve MMA to learn at Jacksons MMA alongside some of the very best in the industry. I also look forward to welcoming Greg Jackson’s top students at Evolve MMA such as UFC Champions Jon Jones, Georges St Pierre, Carlos Condit, Donald Cerrone, Clay Guida, and others. Our world championship coaching staff here at Evolve MMA will do everything to help Greg’s students to add to their arsenal of tools for the cage.”

Still, if Hollywood ends up making some sort of movie about this, I’m not watching it.
