Everyone loves Burt Watson, even Nick Diaz…sort of

Five minutes before Manny Pacquiao was supposed to enter the ring to face Timothy Bradley, nobody knew where he was. The HBO commentators spent the next twenty minutes stalling until he was located. Rumors about his whereabouts included: watching the NBA playoffs, taking a jog on a treadmill, re-writing the bible in Sanskrit, and playing Angry Birds in a utility closet while simultaneously building a shrine to Jesus using nothing but fortune cookies and plastic spoons. If Bob Arum had hired Burt Watson to manage his fighters backstage, not only would the fight have started on time, but Manny Pacquiao might have gotten a proper warm-up instead of being on the tail-end of the most controversial decision in boxing this week. Not sure if that’s what made the fight go the way it did, but it’s something the UFC’s “Babysitter to the Stars” would never allow on his watch. In fact, Burt Watson goes above and beyond for every fighter from the moment they arrive to weigh-in until they’re finished being stitched up and dispatched to their respective afterparties. Even if someone were to ask him to run to 7/11 and pick up a Slurpee to cure their hangover the next morning, he’d probably do it. Check out how much everyone, except Nick Diaz (at the 2:50 mark), loves having Burt Watson around in this UFC Central feature.
