Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes returned to the Octagon for the first time in more than a year and a half at UFC Louisville on Saturday night.
Looking to snap a four-fight win streak spanning back to his world title clash against Jon Jones in 2020, Reyes was paired up with Dustin Jacoby. ‘The Hanyak’ is, like Reyes, in desperate need of a win after dropping three of his last four fights, his most recent coming at UFC 296 against Alonzo Menifield.
Round 1
Dustin Jacoby comes out and immediately takes the center of the Octagon, peppering Reyes with a series of calf kicks and pumping his jab. Reyes circles the outside of the cage, looking to set up his left high kick. Jacoby begins to stalk and moves in, but Reyes catches him with a right hand. Jacoby backs away and Reyes moves on, looking to pour it on. Reyes unleashes a flurry of strikes punctuated by a nasty knee up the middle that catches Jacoby and puts him out on his feet.
Unable to defend himself, the referee steps in and calls for the stoppage in the opening round, giving Reyes his first victory in over four years.
Official Result: Dominick Reyes def. Dustin Jacoby via TKO (strikes) at 2:00 of Round 1.
