- Derrick Lewis talked about his desire to join the WWE while with the UFC
- “The Black Beast” still has six fights in his UFC contract
Derrick Lewis got his sights locked on some crossover appearances in the WWE while still in contract with the UFC.
New gigs for Derrick
Fresh off a sensational knockout win over Rodrigo Nascimento at UFC St. Louis, “The Black Beast” is already thinking about what he wants to do in the future. According to Lewis, the WWE is very likely to be one of his gigs while he fights out the remaining six bouts in his current UFC contract.
“I wouldn’t stop here at UFC, but I would like to dibble dabble in WWE… it’s probably going to be you remember Gold Dust? Probably something like that,” Lewis told reporters. “As long as I get to paint my face so people don’t really know it’s me, I’m going to be a ho freak out there and be a little sassy with it.”

In the fight, Lewis got in trouble when Nascimento held him to the ground until the end of Round 2. When asked about how he was able to turn things around in Round 3 fight after the break, “The Black Beast” revealed that once he was taken down, he bases his decision on how much time is left on the clock.
“it all depends on how much time is on the clock, if the round is almost over with, you might as well not worry about trying to get up just let him ride it on out but if it’s early on in the clock, then yeah you need to try to hurry up and get up,” Lewis explained.
Indeed, Lewis’ strategy worked as he was able to knock Nascimento out 49 seconds into the third round.
Lewis is currently the No. 12-ranked heavyweight in the UFC. Prior to UFC St. Louis, Lewis suffered a tough decision loss to Jailton Almeida at UFC Sao Paolo.
