Watching part one of the 100 greatest movie insults of all time, I was very glad to see Full Metal Jacket in there. As one of my favourite films I of course know the movie almost word for word and even had Gunnery Sgt Hartman’s various insults as alerts on my phone. I had to turn those off after the shame of inadvertently insulting everyone in my vicinity multiple times was too much to bear. Imagine every time you got a mention on Twitter your phone shouted that you could probably suck a golf ball through a garden hose. I’ve replaced that with the achievement noise from the Xbox 360 which is much more pleasing and less embarrassing.
Talking about insults, this guy Danny Downes who used to fight with the UFC and WEC and now writes TUF recaps, amongst other things on UFC.com and for the UFC magazine could probably pull of some cracking insults. I mean, in his latest piece in which he breaks down the fights on The Ultimate Fighter Live Finale you can see he clearly has the gift. For example, he predicts that Holloway will beat Schilling but states that
“on the bright side, Schilling still has his full time job at Best Buy to go back to, so I’m sure he has a pretty sweet home theatre to watch future UFC events”.
As well as scything put-dows, Downes actually does a pretty good job of looking at these matchups so if you’ve never read his TUF recaps I’d suggest you check out his TUF: Live Finale post here. If that doesn’t float your boat, you could always just read his tumblr where he mostly talks about beer.
