  • Dana White will definitely go for Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman 3 but is “scared” to do it at the Wembley Stadium
  • The UFC boss assures that “Rocky” wouldn’t have to wait that long for the third fight with “The Nigerian Nightmare”

UFC 278 was another sold-out event in England. The crowd was not disappointed as their hometown hero Leon Edwards successfully dethroned Kamaru Usman in their epic rematch to become the new welterweight champion.

UFC president Dana White is keen on making the trilogy fight but admitted that all signs point to the Wembley Stadium, an arena which poses a potential threat to a massive event.

The boss is “scared”

Speaking to the media during his UFC 278 post-fight press conference, White boldly admitted that though the Wembley Stadium could accommodate a larger crowd, he’s “scared” to host a title fight event outdoors due to the unpredictable weather in England.

“How do you not do [a third fight]… Wembley? I don’t know. We could go to England whenever the hell we want to now. We could go to England – we were selling out England before. Now you look at, do you do a bigger arena? I’m scared to go outside, and I’m definitely scared to go outside in England. I’m serious, but joking about England. Anything is possible in England now. It would be fun, but it’s scary at the same time. The weather isn’t the greatest in England.”

Leon will get it soon

Usman immediately expressed his desire to bounce back, and the newly-crowned welterweight champ is also expecting a rubber match. Having witnessed Edwards’ spectacular head-kick KO over “The Nigerian Nightmare,” White was prompted to grant “Rocky” the third fight sooner rather than later.

“I don’t think [Edwards] would have to sit and wait anyway due to the knockout,” White raved. “I don’t think he would have to wait that long. He would have to go back into camp and start training anyway. First of all, we’d have to have the date. We’re all booked up all the way to – I think we’re booked up into January now. There will be no waiting for him, even if it’s a rematch.”

All told, it’s safe to say that the only thing fans expect to hear next from White is an official date for Edwards-Usman 3.
