Dana White feels that the backlash aimed at Power Slap is actually meant for him personally.
Power Slap president Dana White finds himself once again defending his new sports venture. White is most known for being the president of the UFC, but recently he has spread out to a new kind of combat sport. Along with partners, White has started a slap-fighting league called Power Slap. White found an interest in slap fighting and thought he could grow it into a legitimate sports organization much as he did for mixed martial arts when he came to the UFC. However, White and Power Slap are catching a lot of heat from the media, and non-approving haters.
White feels that all the negativity aimed at Power Slap is just misguided hate for him. He defends the sport of slap-fighting and explains why he feels the bigger problem is the media hating him.
Dana White thinks the media is aiming their hate for him toward Power Slap
White has been making it a priority to promote Power Slap wherever he goes lately. The new league is getting a huge push on the UFC social media pages and White has been discussing it in almost all of his interviews. He is defending his new project from the barrage of negativity from many media members and has even shamed them for misguided hate. He spoke about this in an interview with Bussin’ With The Boys.
“Everything that’s negative that’s being said about it is an attack on me,” he said. “It’s me that these guys are attacking it’s not the actual slapping. The media, it’s all about me. Okay? They want to f-ck me that’s why they’re saying what they’re saying about slap. This sh-t was going on, this has been on the internet since ’17 is when I first saw it. There’s 350 million views but I’m the only f–king guy who has seen it? There’s no stories written there’s no ‘oh my god this is horrible, how’s this on social media, children are watching this.’ This has been going on since f–king well I noticed in ’17. It could have been before that for all I know. But now it’s horrible and it’s a tragedy and it needs to go away?”
White feels he has the next big thing in combat sports. He has compared Power Slap to the UFC in its early days. He has defended the safety of it saying that it is regulated and the athletes are monitored before and after every fight. He has even defended the pay structure after purses were leaked. Right now White proclaims that this new business venture of his is doing well despite the outpour of hate coming.
