The rumor mill is swirling and Conor McGregor continues to stoke the flames.
McGregor was paying attention to the UFC 291 card this past Saturday night (July 29). Headlining the event was a BMF Championship fight between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier. While the opening frame indicated that fight fans were in for a banger, the bout came to a sudden and emphatic end in the second round. Gaethje landed a head kick that knocked Poirier out.
Mocking Michael Chandler
After the fight, McGregor took aim at Gaethje, and even proposed that they share the Octagon. He even said he’s willing to ditch his planned matchup with Michael Chandler in a pair of since-deleted tweets.
“Justin, I’ll slap you around,” McGregor wrote. “I’m the real BMF, he can fight for pennies if he wants but I want spirits, I call the shots, I’m in it to launch shots, f*ck Chandler, you want it call for it.”
McGregor then mocked Chandler for calling for a BMF title fight against Gaethje by simply putting a laughing emoji in response to the callout.

Conor McGregor December Rumors
Many fans were left frustrated to find out that McGregor missed the deadline to return to the USADA testing pool in time to fight this year. UFC President Dana White told TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter that McGregor vs. Chandler is still a possibility for 2023. He even went as far as to say, “Who cares what USADA thinks?” Despite clearly making that statement on video, the UFC boss has denied saying it.

Now, Dutch outlet Main Event NL claims that Conor McGregor is still seeking a return in December. The outlet noted that an opponent, date, and location have not been determined. This was followed up by another claim from MMA insider, Wizz, stating that a source told him McGregor will headline a UFC PPV in December.
At this time, it’s best to take these rumors with a grain of salt. It’s clear that the UFC wants “Mystic Mac” to return before the year is out. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen.
