McGregor won't come completely unhinged during fight week, but you can expect to see a lot more of him before the year ends

Don’t expect to see any water bottle-chucking or dolly-throwing from Conor McGregor as he closes in on his return to the Octagon.

On Saturday, June 29, the Irish megastar will compete for the first time in nearly three years when he headlines UFC 303, live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. There, McGregor will square off with former Bellator MMA champion ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler in a highly anticipated welterweight clash.

With fight week quickly approaching, fans are eager to see what kind of antics the former two-division champion will bring. Well, don’t expect anything too crazy as McGregor plans to keep it relatively calm, choosing to save all his animosity for when he steps inside the cage.

“I don’t think I will go to that level again,” McGregor told The Mac Life when asked about fighting with anger. “It doesn’t serve a purpose. It doesn’t serve me well, you know. Like I said, you remain cold to the situation. You remain emotionless.

“It’s a blank face and a specific body type. He has his set movements, his set patterns he moves in, and his set shots. I’m aware of them, and I’m preparing for a multitude of outcomes. I’m as ready as I can be, and I’m confident all my shots will land.”

Fully healed from a devastating leg injury he suffered in his last outing, McGregor is physically ready to throw hands on MMA’s biggest stage. Perhaps more importantly, the Irishman is excited to make his return and get back into the win column for the first time in more than four years.

“I’m calm, I’m composed,” McGregor said. “I’m cold in the soul for this man and this whole thing. I’m coming back with a vengeance, and I’m coming back with skill. I’m excited to show my skills. I’m at a great place mentally, physically, and spiritually. In five weeks, five days’ time, we’re back on the horse.”

Conor McGregor Planning to Fight Three Times in 2024

As it stands, McGregor only has two fights left on his contract — one of them being the bout with Chandler. However, ‘Mystic Mac’ recently revealed that he is working on a new contract with the UFC and is already planning to fight three times before the end of 2024.

“I’m back, I’m on a tear, and feeling great. I’m updating the software without damaging the hardware. That’s an old Coach Kavanagh adage and we’re doing that. So we’re in really great place and I’m excited to get going. I’ll do three this year. June, September, December. We’ve got Chandler in June, obviously. September is Mexican Independence Day. Maybe someone with a Mexican heritage. [Nate] Diaz would be perfect, but I don’t know.

“I’m for anyone. That’s the truth. I don’t really care who it is. I’m back. I want the activity and I’ve said this before. God willing, this is the time and I truly believe that it is.
