Before today, if you had told me that Fate ankle-picking Tony Ferguson to have him removed from the card only to be replaced by Max Holloway was not going to be the craziest part of UFC 223, I’d ask to take a hit off whatever you were smoking.
But here we are. Conor McGregor landed in the great borough of Brooklyn looking to start some shit. And boy, did he succeed.
If you have been living under a rock this afternoon, you may have not heard that Conor McGregor and crew stormed the UFC 223 media day at the Barclay’s Center and in an effort to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov, threw a dolly at a bus full of UFC fighters, shattering a window. It was kind of awesome in a “Holy shit! What is this fucking sport?” kind of way. Check it out.

First off, tons of respect for that dolly throw. That shit ain’t easy.
Second off, what an absolute shit-eating wild man move to throw a fucking dolly. Who sees a moving dolly and thinks, “Ah, the ideal object to throw at a goddamn bus.” I am in awe at the brazen stupidity of such an action.
Third off, it turns out this shattered glass cut Michael Chiesa’s face. Nothing required stitches and he should be good to fight on Saturday but, Jesus, that could have fucking sucked. Update: Sure Chiesa’s face is fine, but going to the hospital to clean his face took a bunch of time away from his weight cut. So, his fight was scrapped.
Fourth off, Artem Lobov is being taken off UFC 223 for his involvement in the altercation. Which is hilarious. No where can Flobov be found in any video footage, but because the UFC is too scared to disciple McGregor, they are going into his buddy’s pocket.
Fifth off, there was an awesome rumor for about ten minutes that Conor got arrested. But it was bullshit. Update: But it seems like there is an arrest warrant out for Conor McGregor which is only most amazing of fitting ending of this saga.
Update: Turns out that a third fight is cut off UFC 223 as glass from the shattered window got into Ray Borg’s eye. He is off the card and could have a seriously fucked up eye. This absolutely ensures that this incident is going into litigation. This moment in MMA history is guaranteed to be officially logged and recorded by the U.S. Justice system. Praise to the MMA Gods.
Update: The NYPD has taken Conor McGregor into custody to charge him with assault for his antics at Barclay’s. This is a wild and crazy time for the sport. Please, MMA Gods give us a video feed of Conor McGregor watching UFC 223 from jail.
