- Conor McGregor will be announcing details of his next fight
- Michael Chandler is not sure if “Notorious” still wants to return
The polarizing UFC superstar Conor McGregor is finally letting everybody know about his much-awaited return.
A New Year’s revelation
It has been roughly two and a half years since McGregor last fought inside the Octagon and after the long wait, it seems like the former UFC two-division champ is ready to make a comeback. In a recent post on X, “Notorious” gave fans something they have been yearning to hear – an announcement about his next fight and opponent.
While McGregor has yet to name his opponent and reveal the date of his return, the Irish MMA superstar specify that he would break the new on New Year’s Day.
“I will be announcing my fight date and opponent on New Years Day, 2024,” McGregor wrote.

Nothing is still 100% sure
Michael Chandler is still the favorite to become McGregor’s opponent when he returns. They were supposed to take on each other at the TUF Season 31 finale but the fight was ultimately scrapped after the show.
Chandler previously said that based on what he was told, the fight with “Notorious” is targeted to take place within the first quarter of 2024. However, “Iron” is also starting to think that McGregor is just stalling but has no plans of ever coming back.
“Imagine saying it, “the greatest comeback in combat sports history” and then doing a whole sham of a documentary about it, and then never coming back. @TheNotoriousMMA,” Chandler wrote on X.
McGregor seems confident and sure about his return but judging by how things played out as of late, it remains to be known if “Notorious” is returning in MMA or boxing. It can be recalled that McGregor attended the “Day of Reckoning” boxing event in Riyadh last week. In there, “Notorious” was caught chatting about his desire to face boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
