Colby Covington Understands Why Conor McGregor Stays Away From UFC 229 Promotion

Colby Covington: “Coming From Ireland To The USA To Do Promotion Affects Training Schedule, I Completely Understand Conor McGregor”

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov should collide at the main event of UFC 229 on October 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Conor hasn’t fought for two years, so his return should be one of the biggest things ever. Conor Vs Khabib will probably sell the greatest number of pay-per-view (PPV) buys in the history of UFC. It is also the most popular showdown of the year.

But Conor decided to shut down the media! We are only three weeks away from UFC 229, and the first press-conference didn’t happen yet!

Colby Covington has his own vision of this. He stood by Conor’s side. Colby Covington said traveling around the world when you cut weight might be a little tough. Chaos also stated he is aware that The Notorious trains hard and prepares for the fight at the moment.

But what would be Colby Covington without the provocation? He called Conor McGregor “a coked-up little leprechaun who’s getting a little soft”. Here is his full statement. (via BJPenn.com)

“I completely understand where he’s coming from,” Colby Covington explained. “He’s over in Ireland, so to come from Ireland, to come do promotion in America, that’s a little tough. It takes out of your training schedule. You want to be training hard and preparing for your style matchup. I get where he’s coming from. It gets a little tough when you’re cutting weight to travel all over the place when you want to focus on really getting yourself ready to peak for your fight.”

“But the thing is, he’s gotten a little soft, over the years,” Covington added. “He’s doing his little cocaine, and he’s partying a lot with his hookers. He’s getting a little soft. He’s a little, he’s a coked up little leprechaun who’s getting a little soft, so I completely understand why he doesn’t want to do promotion.”

Do you support Colby Covington? Do you think his weird theory makes sense? Would you like to see The Notorious giving interviews again?
